Things To Do
Yerevan is charming, ancient, and great to explore on foot. The city center in particular, with its pink-tinted architecture made of soft tufa stone, will keep you ensnared with its culinary and architectural charms and haunt you long after you return home.
Delicious Caucasus cuisine awaits you in Yerevan’s many restaurants stretching from Republic Square and Amiryan Street and along Northern Avenue to the Opera area and the base of the Cascade Monument. The wine bars on Saryan Street will liven up your evenings.
For amazing views drive up Saralanji Street (where the Kayaran Apartment is located, by the way) to Victory Park (Haghtanagi Aygi) or the nearby Cascade Monument to admire the city views. The Cascade Monument’s Cafesjian Art Gallery also boasts incredible artworks by some of the world’s best known artists, including Fernando Botero.
For peaceful repose visit Lover’s Park on Baghramyan Avenue before shopping for local art not too far away, just off Saryan Street. Artworks and souvenirs can also be found at the Vernissage market next to the Republic Square metro station and the National Museum.
Fun things to do in Yerevan also include a visit to the Ararat Brandy Factory, the home of Armenia’s legendary Ararat brandy where you’ll be taken on a tour of the distillery and participate in a brandy tasting. Follow it up with a visit to the home of renowned film director Sergey Parajanov, now a museum. Top it all off with a visit to Megerian Carpets on Abovyan Street to admire the carpet-weaving masterpieces of the region before walking down to Republic Square to watch the dancing fountains.
