House Museum of Hovhannes Tumanyan

What you can see in this museum

The House-museum of Hovhannes Tumanyan opened in April 1953 on the 30th anniversary of the poet’s death. The founder and the first director of the museum was Tumanyan’s daughter. The museum exhibits copies of manuscripts, photo documents and original illustrations of Tumanyan’s writings.

In 1969, new show halls were added to the house-museum to exhibit materials related to Tumanyan’s life and work. Those who are fans of Tumanyan’s work, may be excited to see his personal items, documents, manuscripts, sketches and publications in more than 40 languages. You will feel the atmosphere where Tumanyan lived, as this museum recreates the environment in which Tumanyan lived and worked in Tbilisi. His belongings are exhibited and the interiors of the dining room, living room and office of the poet's home in Tbilisi have been recreated. The large hall displays the poet’s private library of about 8,000 books.

Hovhannes Tumanyan House Museum is located on 40 Moskovyan Str., Yerevan, Armenia. You can contact the museum administration by dialling (+374 10) 581271 or 560021.
