Located in the Waterfront District of Washington, DC is The Wharf. This riverside attraction has been the traditional fish market for the DC area for over 200 years. It also claims the title of the United State's oldest continuously operating fish market. Naturally, the area is home to several of Washington's premier seafood restaurants as well as several souvenir shops. Being an active fish market, you can also pick up the freshest fish or crabs to cook a gourmet meal at home.
The Wharf is part of a large re-development project for southwestern Washington to take advantage of the fresh seafood and riverfront property. With Nationals Park and the Naval Yard nearby, it is quickly becoming a great corner of Washington to visit.
