Gyumri lost many of its most historical and culturally unique structures after the disastrous 1988 earthquake. Before that, there was another major earthquake in 1926. Despite this, Gymuri is still one of the most exquisite cities of Armenia.
Gyumri has many exceptional museums including the Aslamazyan Sisters House-Museum, the Dzitoghtsyan House-Museum, and theHouse-Museums of Avetik Isahakyan, Mher Mkrtchyan, and Hovhannes Shiraz. Besides museums, many churches and cathedrals are found in Gyumri. The famous Shirak Gyumri Beer Company is also located in Gyumri.
The Shirak Airport is 5km away from Gyumri. This airport serves as an alternative to Yerevan’s Zvartnots Airport.
