Tinseltown is always bustling with something, regardless of what time of the year you come to visit. There are so many events and venue options to choose from that it can be overwhelming.

We’ve narrowed down a list of popular events around LA that people look forward to each year, see if you can catch one of them during your own stay! 

January

dineL.A. Restaurant Week

dineL.A. Restaurant Week takes place across the city of L.A. and lasts for 2 weeks! This tasty event happens twice a year, once in January and once more in July. During the much anticipated 14 day feast festival, you can dine at any one of nearly 350 of the top restaurants in the city, all of which feature fixed price menus for lunch and dinner. Take a bite out the diverse culinary scene in L.A..

February

Chinese New Year/Golden Dragon Parade

Once a year in February along Chinatown’s North Broadway you’ll be able to catch the Golden Dragon Parade as part of the Chinese New Year celebration! This event is organized by the Chinese Chamber of Commerce and attracts tens of thousands of people. Experience the ancient tradition this year with firecrackers, dozens of lavish floats and more!

March

The ASICS L.A. Marathon

This annual marathon has had people running since 1986 and is sought out by runners from more than 50 countries. Gathering over 20,000 participants each year, this 26.2 mile course is not for the faint of heart. The picturesque marathon route covers the span of the Dodger Stadium to Santa Monica Beach.

Fiesta Broadway

Fiesta Broadway is considered one of the largest “Cinco de Mayo” celebrations worldwide! Attracting participants of all ages, this festival has everything from live music stages to games and food across Downtown L.A.. While the actual holiday of Cinco de Mayo of course takes place on May 5th, these particular festivities begin on the last Sunday of April.

There are no recurring annual events in May, but that doesn't mean that there isn't anything to do. Keep an eye out for concerts, plays, shows, and smaller events all across the city!

The L.A. Film Festival

If you are a film buff, then the L.A. Film Festival is a perfect event for you. Organized by Film Independent, more than 100 feature films are screened during this festival. Over 100,000 people make their way to Downtown Los Angeles to attend, with festivities including seminars held by film-industry gurus, free outdoor screenings, and concerts.

July

Anime Expo

July is a huge month for Anime fans in Downtown L.A.. Lovers of Japanese animations flock by the masses from all over the world in order to participate in the Anime Expo, which has taken place every year at the Los Angeles Convention Center since 2008. The first Anime Expo to take place in California was in 1992, and over the coming years it has only gained momentum with fans arriving dressed in mind-blowing attire. This event is filled with competitions, industry panels, screenings and more.

August

Nisei Week Japanese Festival

Nisei means 2nd generation in Japanese, describing the first American born Japanese. When this event originated in 1934 it was intended for that audience, but it now welcomes people from all backgrounds. It is an opportunity for everyone to learn about and celebrate Japanese heritage, food, and culture. The weeklong festival takes place in the Little Tokyo district of Downtown LA.

Emmy Awards

The Primetime Emmy Awards is held every year at the Microsoft Theater in Downtown LA. These awards recognize excellence and talents in the television industry and are given by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. The ceremony of course is attended by celebrities, fanfare and members of the media and the organizers also host a few events on the side including informative Panels, Professional Development Events and Mixers.

L.A. Auto Show

Car lovers everywhere are welcomed to the car capital of the world in November for the famous L.A. Auto Show. Each year since 1907 hundreds of car enthusiasts, members of the media and industry leaders find themselves at the Los Angeles Convention Center. The event lasts a total of 10 days and features dozens of debuts from all over the world.

Holiday Sing-Along - Walt Disney Concert Hall

The whole country is filled with the holiday spirit, and Downtown L.A. is no exception. The Holiday Sing-Along, is a much loved event which occurs once a year at the Walt Disney Concert Hall. Participants get a chance to enjoy the hall’s pipe organ, jazz combo and choir as they sing some holiday season classics.
