Botanical Garden
One of the nicest places of interest in Yerevan, the Botanical Garden, opens its doors in front of all its visitors. It is home to around 200 species of endemic, rare and declining plant species.
The Botaical Garden opened in 1935 in the northeastern part of Yerevan on a 80 acres of semi deserted land, while the botnical center was bulit three years later. In 1944 the new glasshouse was built, which occupies 610 square kilometers. It has a winter garden, water and subtropical plants section, tropical and domestic plants. In 1950 the garden became a part of the biological institute. In the garden are presented Caucasian, northen American, European, Siberian and eastern Asian unique types of plants.
In 1980 the number of plant types was reaching 1240. The glasshouse if pretty rich with water plants. Adjacent to it, tropical and subtropical plants are grown.
