Sports and Concerts Complex
The Sports and Concerts Complex named after Karen Demirjyan is located on Tsitsernakaberd hill, in the gorge of Hrazdan river. There are two large halls there: the Concerts Hall and the Sports Hall.
The Complex was active sice 1983, but in as early as 1985 its activities were suspended because of fire. The reconstruction works were finished by the end of 1987 and it was reopened and ready to hold new events.
The Complex has a beautiful design, which by appearance replicates a bird with its wings wide open. The tribune has 1200 seats, which can easily unite two halls and provide extra seats. Due to the Complex being the best in its type, its architects were awarded with the USSR State Prize.
Today the Sports and Concerts Complex is designed for figure-skating, as well as for organizing other kinds of events. The Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2011 was held here.
