Yerevan

Yerevan is the capital of Armenia and the oldest operating capital in the world, which is 29 years older than the eternal city of Rome.

A bit of history

Yerevan is the capital of Armenia, the twelfth capital in the history of Armenia. In 782 BC. Argishti I ordered the construction of the fortress city of Erebuni, present day Yerevan. With its castles and fortified walls of Erebuni, Yerevan played an important defensive role in the first Armenian kingdom of Urartu.

The capital of Armenia is the oldest operating capital in the world, which is 29 years older than the eternal city of Rome. Yerevan is located in the Ararat valley at an altitude of 900-1200m above sea level and has an area of 300 km2. Today, Yerevan has almost 1.1 million residents.

Yerevan is home to the "Ararat" wine and brandy factory which produces the popular Armenian cognac. There are many museums, historical monuments, galleries, theaters, recreational areas, bars, outdoor cafes, restaurants, beautiful and comfortable hotels and apartments where one can fully enjoy a vibrant and comfortable vacation.

Also many international festivals are organized in Yerevan. Today, Yerevan is the fastest developing city of Armenia and despite many new buildings it continues to preserve the style of Armenian architecture, which gives Yerevan its special color.

Armenians are so fond of Mount Ararat that they build buildings as much as possible facing the mountain, for this reason you can enjoy the beauty of Mount Ararat from the windows of many houses, apartments and hotels.
